The Blue Water Audit

Florida has over

Florida’s springs and rivers have long been known as premiere natural vacation destinations, bringing hundreds of millions of dollars to our local economy. Many are unaware that the source of our springs is the Floridan Aquifer, which also provides 90% of Florida’s drinking water.

What is the Blue Water Audit?

Due to Florida’s ever growing population, the Floridan Aquifer has fallen victim to excessive groundwater pumping and nutrient pollution. This has led to reduced spring flows and excessive algae growth in our springs. We developed the Blue Water Audit to estimate and visualize the impact of human activities on the aquifer.
